ON THIS DAY: Naval Officer with Secret Clearance Elaine Faye Lehtinen MISSING- Napa, California

ON THIS DAY: Naval Officer with Secret Clearance Elaine Faye Lehtinen MISSING- Napa, California

Elaine Faye Lehtinen was a Naval Officer living in Napa, California in June 1976.

Elaine was responsible, hardworking, and reliable.  When she didn't show up for work on June 16, 1976, her fellow officers became worried.  They called one of Elaine's neighbors who went to her home to check on her. Elaine didn't answer the door, and the neighbor was concerned enough they were able to gain entry through an unlocked window.

Her home was neat and orderly, as was expected, and her naval uniform was laid out on her bed as if she were preparing to get ready for the day.

Her car was in the driveway, her keys and her purse on the counter.  But there was no sign of Elaine.

Her neighbor had seen her out gardening the day before, on June 15, 1976, making this the day she was last seen.

There was no indication she was suicidal at the time of her disappearance, and she wasn't having any financial problems or personal problems that might have made her want to leave on her own. Her career in the Navy was going well; she had enlisted at age eighteen and had risen to officer status, with secret clearance.

Elaine is described as a Caucasian female, standing 5' tall and weighing 110 pounds when she was last seen in June 1976.  Elaine was 31 years old then, and would today be 79. She has brown hair and blue eyes, and wears prescription eyeglasses.

Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Elaine Lehtinen, is asked to contact the Napa Police Department at 707-253-4451.
