Janice Norat left work early on June 19, 1990, to pick up her daughter from summer camp for a doctor's appointment. She left her landscaping job around 8:30 a.m. that morning.
Her 1982 Ford Fairlane was discovered locked and abandoned in the Albertson's Grocery Store parking lot on June 22, 1990. The store is located adjacent to the Merchant's Walk complex- where Janice was working. There was no sign of Norat at the scene.
One of Janice's daughters believes the occult may have played a role in her mother's disappearance. Her daughter stated she never saw her mother performing occult rituals or wearing robes, but she found several pentagrams in the house after her mom vanished.
Her other daughter believes she may have left of her own accord because she was suffering from depression and having a hard time.
Authorities said that Norat's husband died in a car accident a few months before her disappearance. At the time of her disappearance, she may have been carrying up to $20,000 in insurance money. She also left behind thousands of dollars in her bank account and never claimed the money.
Janice is described as a Caucasian female. She has black hair and brown eyes. At the time of her disappearance, she stood 5'5" and weighed around 125 pounds. She was 32 years old then, and would today be 66 years old.
Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Janice Norat, is asked to contact the Lakeland Police Department at 863-834-8950.
