On September 27, 2022, at 1:30 p.m., 911 Dispatch operators received a call regarding a missing hiker.
Charles, 'Chuck', Kaiser left to go for a half-mile hike in Lander, Wyoming to the Blue Ridge Fire Lookout.
His hiking partner wasn't ready to leave when Chuck was, and they planned to meet up later near the trail.
When Chuck's friend couldn't find him upon arrival at the trail, they called 911 to report their 73-year-old friend missing.
Search and rescue teams converged on the area, but found no clues. Bloodhounds were brought in, and air units were deployed, but there were still no signs of Chuck.
Many times over the next few weeks the search teams had to be called off due to weather.
Despite all of those efforts by so many people, no signs of Chuck were ever uncovered. It is believed that he became lost or injured out on the trail, yet it's baffling why he couldn't be found.
The trail itself is a half-mile hike, that leads to a fire lookout. The trail- according to windriver.org- is an easy and accessible hiking path. What happened to Chuck on that trail? Or, had Chuck gone somewhere else completely?
Chuck was a Michigan resident, living in the greater Detroit area for most of his life.
Chuck Kaiser is described as a Caucasian male, standing 5'10" and weighing around 250 pounds when he was last seen in September 2022. Chuck has white hair, blue eyes and wore eyeglasses. He was last known to be wearing a T-Shirt and shorts.
Anyone with any information on the whereabouts of Chuck Kaiser, is asked to contact the Fremont County Sheriff's Office at 307-856-7200.
